Hi Friends,
It’s Spring! (sorta.. in MA.. kinda cold and rainy still.. but better)
We just had the pink full moon last night in Libra. The pink full moon is associated with early spring blooming flowers.
This picture above, is a cherry tree in my front year from last Spring. I’m watching to see if it blooms early. (it usually blooms in May. ) Libra is represented by the the scales. This lunation, marking the first full moon of spring, focuses on balancing partnerships, relationships, and finding harmony. As a Venus-ruled sign, this Libra full moon brings a softer, more romantic, and social energy, encouraging us to look at how we balance our personal needs with those of others.
“How important is having your own space to you?”
For me, having my own space is super important. Lately I have been focusing on writing and learning more about Logic Pro and studio techniques. I’m feeling the call to create more. Hoping to put out something again this year, either a recording or book.
What are you working on?
Here’s a great phrase, particularly in the times of social media, “Create before you consume.”
I tell my students, stop scrolling and do something. Practice, write, find a hobby. I think musicians don’t realize how much social media is changing them. It affects our attention span, and takes us farther from our own creativity. I like working on the occasional cover, or playing them on gigs, but how about creating something new and original? Posting cover after cover gets old. Original music has no blue print, it’s just creating something that wasn’t there before. It’s like a download that you manifest into something real.
“Always be open. The spirit of Jazz is the spirit of openness.” – Herbie Hancock

“Man, sometimes it takes you along time to sound like yourself. ” -Miles Davis
Here is a recent live performance of my original song, “Figure it Out” with Dennis Hughes – keys and Vinnie Pagano – drums.
Of course, I still use social media. It is good for a lot of things. It keeps me connected to friends, gets me work and is a great outlet to share and enjoy others content. It is addictive though, and you have to say at some point, “I’m turning this off!”

Thank you for replying to my emails and sharing what is new with you. I love hearing from you and seeing you at my shows.
Also, it really does help musicians for you to follow them or come to their shows. The connection with an audience is an incredible benefit of being an artist. Support others if you like what they do.
